Library of the Institute for Jewish Studies
The institute houses a small collection of primary sources and secondary literature focusing on Jewish intellectual and cultural history. Furthermore, a special collection on Jewish scepticism has been developed in recent years as part of the Maimonides Centre for Advanced Studies. Both collections are part of the Library for Protestant Theology and Religions.
Additional Relevant Collections in Hamburg
The State and University Library Hamburg Carl von Ossietzky (SUB) holds a world-famous collection of Hebrew manuscripts, which has been digitized. It is also houses as s permanent loan the surviving parts of the pre-1939 Library of the Jewish community of Hamburg—a large and very important collection of early printed Hebrew books. The Institute for the History of German Jews, the first research institution in Jewish Studies founded in Germany after 1945, has a comprehensive library with substantial holdings of Judaica and Hebraica.
