Knowledge in Transition - Knowledge Production and Circulation of Alevi Traditions in Past and Present

Knowledge in Transition – Knowledge Production and Circulation of Alevi Traditions in Past and Present
The lecture series explores the emergence, transformation, and circulation of knowledge about Alevism. Drawing on both historical and contemporary cases, it traces how meanings, interpretive claims, and epistemic frameworks have shifted over time. The series highlights the entanglements of external and internal representations, as well as the political, social, and discursive conditions under which knowledge is produced and negotiated. Bringing together scholars from different disciplines, it offers insights into new and ongoing research projects – covering topics from early Western European interpretations and their counter-narratives in Turkey to Alevi self-representations, as well as recent initiatives in archiving, digitization, and knowledge transmission. The lecture series is open to all interested.
