Horror and Manifestations of Fear in Early Modern Judaism
The project “Horror and Manifestations of Fear in Early Modern Judaism” aims to initiate an original investigation on literary and enactments of the emotional state of fear in early modern Jewish literature. The investigation involves a selected pool of Hebrew texts produced between late-16th and mid-18th century, addressing horror motifs via different genres such as religious pedagogy, narrative, and poetry.
The project is funded by a research grant of the German Research Fundation (DFG) and lead by PD Dr. Ilaria Briata at the Institute for Jewish Studies of the University of Hamburg.
